ASST 511 - Intl Pol Econ: East Asia
This seminar examines the international political economy of East Asia. The region is undoubtedly of critical importance: it is home to half the world's population, and rapid economic development has fueled global economic growth. Yet it is also a region experiencing political and social changes that have profound implications for regional and global stability. This seminar analyzes trends in the region by examining the political nature of the most salient economic issues and their implications for policy and private sectors.

Students are not expected to have an advanced proficiency in economics; however, it is highly recommended that students have some background in basic macroeconomic concepts and a certain familiarity with the international monetary and trading system.
