BIOL 354 - Synaptic Transmission
This course will examine how neurons communicate with each other through synaptic connections. It will begin with some basic information about human neuroanatomy, providing the groundwork for understanding how disruptions in specific systems result in specific outcomes. We will then examine the basic cell biology of synaptic transmission, focusing on the different types of neurotransmitters and their receptors. We will explore the molecular regulation of these systems, the effects of therapeutic and non-therapeutic drugs, and the transfer of information from outside the cell to inside. 

BIOL-354 is intended for junior and senior Biology or Neurobiology majors who have taken Neurobiology (BIOL-195). This course serves as an approved course towards a concentration in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology.
