BIOL 388 - Microbial Genomics
You’re more them than you! The number of microorganisms found in and on your body far exceeds the number of human cells. This class will investigate aspects of the human microbiome, that is, the microorganisms associated with human body. The course will be oriented around hands-on projects that investigate these microorganisms – using both computer tools to investigate genomes and laboratory investigations to test hypotheses generated from the genome sequences. Although some prior understanding of microbiology, molecular biology, or biochemistry is helpful, the course is open to all biology majors. Computer science majors are also encouraged to apply.
