BIOL 508 - Integrated Biology
This course will survey the faculty research programs of the Department of Biology with a focus on biological concepts that link subdisciplines.  Faculty will provide an overview of the major theoretical questions that motivate their research and discuss on going projects that address these questions.  Some of the major themes covered will include Communications and Behavior, Phenotypic Plasticity and Population Dynamics, and Community Dynamics.  Students are expected to read primary literature and participate in class discussions.  This course will address the following program learning goals: (1) displaying diversified knowledge of biological concepts, theories and research techniques, and (2) integration of new knowledge into existing scientific frameworks.
