ENGL 890 - MA Capstone Seminar
For MA students who choose to develop a multimedia or public humanities capstone project instead of a traditional thesis, this seminar will guide you through a design and research process, with assistance from a faculty mentor and your colleagues. We’ll begin by exploring ideas about and models of public humanities, design thinking, and multimedia representations. Over the course of the semester, you will identify the audience, purpose, form, and critical and rhetorical strategies for your project and complete relevant research. You will also your work in progress multiple times, and this workshop model will provide feedback on your project while also helping to deepen your understanding of the qualities and strategies that make multimedia and public humanities projects work well. By the end of fall term, you will have a detailed plan for finishing your projects, and the seminar group will convene a couple of times in spring to review projects as they near completion.
