FREN 434 - Contemp Quebec Society in Film
This course will introduce students to some of the major film makers from Quebec and their approaches to various problems and changes in Quebec society since the Quiet Revolution. Students will learn the vocabulary of the film medium to enable a more cogent discussion of both content and style. The focus will be on understanding Quebec's culture and society as shown in the feature films, documentaries, and other supporting materials. Directors to be studied will include Denys Arcand, Claude Jutra, Luce Guilbeault, Louise Carr?, Lea Pool, and Jacques Godbout. This course fulfills the upper-division culture requirement for the French major.
