INAF 286 - Advanced Swahili II
This course builds on the material covered in Beginners and Intermediate Swahili. Advanced Swahili II will survey cultural and contemporary issues in Kiswahili. A variety of issues and genres will be explored to give the student the opportunity to experience the richness, depth, and versatility of Kiswahili. The topics that will be covered range from education to health, agriculture, politics, poetry, music and literature. The vast array of topics offered will provide the student the opportunity to get insights into the language, as well as a deeper understanding of the triumphs and tribulations of the people of East Africa and their quest to make sense of their world, both locally and internationally.
