These include motivation, the understanding and realization of interactional opportunities and linguistic identities, and how these impact language production and development. We will study a diverse set of linguistic forms focusing on speakers of Mandarin Chinese, Farsi and Spanish, and their ESL/EFL learning outcomes. Members of class, all of whom must have taken a class in research methodology, and a prior seminar, will conduct research and complete a substantial research paper, individually or in pairs, covering one of the topics of the class.
