NURS 427 - Chld/Adoles Behav Hlth:Prim Ca
This is a theory based elective.  Enrollees need not have a Child & Adolescent Psychiatric/Mental Health clinical practice background. Upper division undergraduate students must have the permission of the faculty to enroll in the course. The focus will be on providing a beginning understanding of clinical assessment, diagnosis and management strategies for common behavioral health concerns encountered in primary care settings treating 5-18 year olds.  Relevant theories, evidence-based practice, culturally congruent principles, psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions grounded in a health promotion framework will be presented.

**This course does not provide the enrollee with skills making them eligible to diagnose in the specialty of child and adolescent psychiatric-mental health nursing.
