NURS 610 - Anesthesia Concepts Sem I
This course which is offered in the Fall semester focuses on concepts and theories relative to the practice of nurse anesthesia. An integration of anesthetic concepts and theories with the knowledge base gained in the courses of gross anatomy and chemistry provides the student with a foundation to: assess patient status, begin decision making relative to the holistic care of the patient undergoing surgery and or diagnostic procedures and understand the rationale for the implementation of scientifically based anesthetic regimes. The concepts of safety, vigilance and competency are addressed relative to patient care. Recognition of culturally diverse populations and the influence on care throughout the perioperative period is analyzed.
