PSYC 371 - Contemporary Res On Emotion
This seminar covers the traditional psychological approaches to emotion: biological, cognitive, communicative, psychopathological, developmental, and functionalist. Recent theory and research will be examined and critically evaluated. The goals of the class will be to develop an understanding of the multifaceted nature of emotions and an awareness of how they function in everyday life. The course will be taught in seminar format, with class participation expected of all students. Readings are drawn from the academic literature and are at an advanced level. Students will write two papers designed to develop their skills at observation, research, and analysis, and will help lead one of the classes.
