SPAN 391 - Lit & Culture: Mex. Border
The USA-Mexican border is often in the news because of its violence, the drug cartels and undocumented migration. This forges representations of conflict and distress in our imagery of the region. However, shaped by an energetic population and a dynamic economy, the border has its own cultural pace fed by genuine and unique projects. While analyzing the impact of the border upon fiction-writing, poetry and art, this course aims at rescuing the creativity and the innovative outlook that the region offers.
