SPAN 397 - Race & Ethnicity in Latin Amer
This course will explore the ways that “race” and ethnicity are expressed and contested socially and politically in contemporary Latin America, focusing on: the nature of race in various Latin American settings, the participation of ethnic minorities in the regional and national arenas, and the various discourses that they employ in their dialogue with the dominant society. The course will move across various disciplines, including anthropology, art history, and history. Course taught in English.
