WGST 140 - Intro Women's/Gender Studies
 This course offers students an overview of the field of Women’s and Gender Studies. Since this is an interdisciplinary field, we will cover a broad range of scholarship from various disciplines. The primary goal of the course is to train you in the art of critical analysis and improve your communication skills using the lens of gender and sexuality. Race, ethnicity and other social identities will be central to our discussions.

This section of the course will explore gender and sexuality in a range of social contexts, including law, education, work and healthcare, with an emphasis on public policy. Other specific areas of focus will include hyper-masculinity, gender in childhood, sex in college and gender nonconformity. In addition to gaining a broad understanding of the field, students will hone their public speaking skills and practice engaging in respectful discourse about emotionally charged topics.

The class is welcoming to all students; there are no prerequisites.
