STIA 382 - Energy Finance, Pol & Markets
There is a multi-trillion dollar transition underway as policy imperatives and new technology begin to bring the world from a period of unprecedented economic growth harvesting fossil fuels into our next energy age in which new technology will dominate the energy world. This class will examine how policy and markets influence the actual economics for energy projects, which in turn define how energy investments and resources are deployed around the globe. We will use a series of modules to examine the practical implications of how policy frameworks are actually applied by the marketplace to make decisions about what energy infrastructure to build around the world. We will look at the real economic reasons for policy success and failure (and unintended consequences) through the lens of real energy projects and case studies.
