|Sr. Sem: Craft Studies - 38331 - ENGL 494 - 01|
What is 'craft'? How have diverse writers articulated and deconstructed the very notion of craft? Students will develop creative writing projects in all genres while critically investigating theories of genre, craft, creativity, and textuality. Readings on contemporary poetics and narratology will be key to our endeavors. Deepening their mastery of the craft of writing, students will have the opportunity to workshop with peers while working closely with the professor on their individual writing projects. Extensive revision will be a significant part of the course. Each student will also write a short framing paper situating their creative project. Students will discover their own questions regarding craft, form, genre and more. Deeply practical and profoundly theoretical, this capstone is intended for creative writing minors, as well as other students who have already done significant course work in a creative writing genre.
