|UNXD 456 - Maker Hub Extension|
UNXD-456 is a 1-Credit course through Georgetown’s Maker Hub in which students actively integrate academic studies with hands-on, project based learning, by developing a physical product, prototype, or creative work utilizing the fabrication equipment in the Maker Hub. This work must enhance and deepen the classroom learning of a 3-credit course in which the student is currently enrolled. The Maker Hub at Georgetown is a unique space that provides a range of fabrication equipment, both modern and traditional, along with a community and support system that makes these tools accessible and productive for experts and newcomers alike. Equipment includes a print shop with book-binding, 3D printers, Laser cutter, electronics, wood shop, sewing and embroidery machines, a loom, and more. For admission into UNXD-456, students will submit a project proposal explaining their project idea, how it relates to their class, and an estimate of the tools and equipment they will need to complete it.
