GBUS 407 - Int Pol Risk Assessmt & Mgmt
This course will selectively examine some of the contemporary risk assessment and management challenges in emerging markets facing senior corporate managers and investors—with a focus on political and social risks.

This course aims to accomplish three goals: 1) to help develop some critical analytical skills, 2) to introduce the student to risk assessment and management perspectives and techniques of private firms venturing into emerging markets, and 3) to help the student appreciate the importance of what Joseph Nye has termed “contextual intelligence”. An opportunity to improve one’s communications skills will also be provided.

Hopefully in later life, when the student finds himself/herself in position being a corporate CEO (or assisting one in discharging his/her responsibilities), or in a public office trying to influence the decision-making of a corporation, the student will be able to better understand the risk assessment/management decision-making processes associated with prospective investments in emerging markets.
