IDST 210 - LIB: History of the Book
An historical introduction to the evolution of printing processes since Gutenberg. Special attention is given to topics such as the mechanization of printing, the industrialization of the book since the nineteenth century, typography and publishing. Drawing on the rich collections of Georgetown's Special Collections, students will explore the book not simply as a container of content, but as a physical object that has shaped the way we understand the world around us.
